Day 10: A Day to Ourselves

This morning was rough. I meant to wake up at 8 and shower to be ready at 9 and head out then.

That definitely didn’t happen. Since I’m under the weather, I must have needed the sleep. I woke up at 10 to 10 texts about when we were meeting in one of my group chats, and they had asked to wake me up, but I guess I was Sleeping Beauty today.

I bolted up, threw on some clothes, and brushed my teeth. Then, Jackson, Peyton, and I met in the lobby and walked to TinTin’s.

There, we met Leslye and Stuart. I had my customary vanilla latte (delicious as always) and a croissant this morning. I wasn’t feeling up to real food.

We all had a nice chat at the café and talked about the trip so far.

Then, we, and by we I mean Jackson, had the bright idea to climb the giant hill up to the old fortress near Haga. Not going to lie, that was quite a hike for me. It was the workout I needed, but didn’t quite want.

We got some really great pictures of the city from up there. Jackson and I made sure to take some action shots of the two of us heel clicking. I’m proud that I was able to do it.

We made our way back down, then walked into Haga to shop around. The streets are so beautiful, and it was definitely more crowded than when we stopped during our bus tour.

First, I popped in a souvenir shop to get a keychain for my roommate’s mom, because she collects them from all over. I went with a Gothenburg specific spinning keychain.

Then, I went back to the antique store to look for more pins and gifts for some friends back at school. I almost got my mom a plate, but I was too worried about it breaking on the flights back.

I bought three more pins, three more flower diagrams, and found a beautiful ruby ring that the shopkeeper helped me find.

She was a saint for dealing with me, as they have to pull out the rings at the register. First, I looked at some amber rings, but she then mentioned there were more behind the register, and that was when she pulled out the ruby one.

After I checked out, we stopped in another souvenir shop, a small boutique, and then we used Café Husaran’ wifi to get directions.

We took the ferry across to explore the Chalmers campus, as we didn’t see much of it the first time. I kept joking that we should stop by Hasselblad and knock on the door to say hi!

We just meandered down the streets for a while, then caught the ferry back to our side of town so we could get ready for our second Frölunda game.

Jackson, Peyton, and I hopped on the tram back to the hostel, got ready, then took the 6 all the way to the Scandinavium.

Today, Frölunda was playing Malmö in the afternoon.

For 3:15 on a Saturday, I feel like the game was pretty full. We sat in the very last row, which I would say compares to the lower rows of the 300 level at the United Center. And instead of paying almost $200, we each only paid around $13.

This game was a lot more competitive. Frölunda was up a point for most of the times the score wasn’t even, but they were tied for a large majority of the game.

Finally, with four minutes left, Frölunda scored to make it 4-3! We left with a minute to go in order to make the next shuttle, and then we were on our way to the hostel.

I set my phone down to charge at the hostel, then Jackson, Matt, and I met a few of the others at Karlson’s again before dinner.

We all came back, and then it was time for our Himalayan dinner! It was amazing, and I had so much food it wasn’t even funny.

Sharing the dishes was a fun experience! I sat near Carlin, Sam Ram, and Robby, and I had a great time with all of them!

Tonight was a good time, and I had so much fun!
